Atlas Copco acquires renewable industry specialist Cirmac International

Atlas Copco announced it has acquired Cirmac International. Cirmac specializes in biogas upgrading systems for the renewable energy industry and also supplies gas treatment systems for applications within oil, gas and chemical processes.

Leen van Diggele, Atlas Copco UK Managing Director said the investment complements Atlas Copco’s existing portfolio of high-pressure compressor solutions and nitrogen generation equipment. According to him, Cirmac’s product offerings will further support Atlas Copco’s expansion in these areas in the UK.

Diggele noted that the acquisition of Cirmac brings innovative developments in the important fields of gas treatment and biogas upgrading systems to Atlas Copco, adding that it will enable the firm extend its offer of sustainable, renewable energy solutions.

Cirmac designs, markets and services systems that upgrade biogas to biomethane for natural gas grid mains supply, for transport fuel, and sewage treatment applications. The company also offers bespoke gas purification and nitrogen generation systems to meet the high-purity product requirements of land based and off-shore process operations. It is a leading innovator of membrane separation and Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA molecular sieve) techniques.
 
Atlas Copco in the UK & Ireland handles the sales and marketing of compressors, generators, construction and mining equipment, industrial power tools and assembly systems – all backed up by a nationwide sales, distribution, service and maintenance network.

Cirmac has been a global player in nitrogen generation, gas treatment and the upgrading of biogas into green gas. An innovative company that uses advanced gas-separation technologies to promote safety and sustainability.

Atlas Copco India's unit is on a gaining spree on the bourses ever since its promoters made a delisting offer of Rs. 2,250 a share, which analysts feel is attractively priced. Atlas Copco AB, the Sweden-based promoter of Atlas Copco India Ltd, intends to buy back the remaining 16.23 per cent public stake at a price of Rs. 2,250 per piece. The delisting offer would begin on March 7 and close on March 11.
