Germany’s Wuppermann Group forays into Switzerland with acquisition of Creative Metall Design AG

Germany based Wuppermann Group continues its dynamic growth with the purchase of Creative Metall Design AG (CMD), a metal-processing company based in Ziefen, Switzerland. The investment is the Germany firm’s first Swiss production site acquisition.

CMD was founded in 2001 and mainly produces electronic housings, interior furnishing and shop fitting products. In addition to the production activities in Switzerland, Wuppermann intends to strengthen its sales activities in Switzerland, particularly with regard to its stainless steel range, steel tubes and tube components.

Dr. C. L. Theodor Wuppermann, Chief Financial Officer and Spokesman of the Board of Management of Wuppermann AG, said the purchase of CMD is the firm’s third acquisition this year following the takeover of KLB Blech in Form GmbH in Herbolzheim and its French agency in Paris.

Dr Wuppermann reiterated that with CMD, the firm now has its very own production facility in Switzerland for the first time in the history of the company. According to Dr Wuppermann, this marks an important step for Wuppermann Group, as Switzerland is an interesting market for the company’s products.

With nine production sites and 800 employees in the business unit Technical Products in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, Wuppermann is at the forefront of metal processing companies in the German speaking area. With the purchase of new production sites Wuppermann has further optimized its product portfolio and production footprint in Europe in order to manufacture high-quality products fast and cost effective throughout Europe.

Dr. Arnd Schaff, Wuppermann member of the Board of Management and responsible for the business unit Technical Products, noted that as a large sheet metal processor, Wuppermann can offer its customers the whole value chain from a single source, which consequently reflects the current market trend.

Dr. Schaff reiterated that as a broadly positioned supplier, Wuppermann provides development services, is able to choose between various design alternatives and optimize the result for its customers, as it covers the whole product and production range.

In addition, the company’s customers benefit from its experiences in a wide range of branches, such as the shop fitting and the medical industry or the vehicle and machine construction sectors, said Dr. Schaff.

The Wuppermann Group is managed and organized by the corporate holding Wuppermann AG. Wuppermann AG is a wholly family-owned company. Voestalpine Stahl GmbH holds a 30% interest in Wuppermann Austria GmbH and Wuppermann Bandstahl GmbH. Corus Staal B.V. has a 30% stake in Wuppermann Staal Nederland B.V.
