Government authorizes expense to build new Alentejo Central Hospital

The Council of Ministers authorized the execution of expenses related to the execution of the public works contract for the construction of the new Alentejo Central Hospital, by the Alentejo Regional Health Administration.

At the press conference after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Health said that this resolution "authorizes the Alentejo Regional Health Administration to assume the expenditure of up to about 150 million euros, determining also the recurrence of charges in four years (2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023) '.

Marta Feared stressed that this new hospital will replace the current hospital of Espírito Santo de Évora and "function as a central hospital for the entire Alentejo region", adding that it will have a high range of technological resources.

Alentejo Central Hospital will "respond to the needs of the entire Alentejo population by significantly reducing the use of care outside the region, both in terms of Intensive and Intermediate Care beds and in the operating room and recovery room" .

"On the other hand, the project has a significant incidence of outpatient areas, following the modern trends of care, and will ensure a set of new specialties such as plastic surgery, vascular, immunoallergology, infectious and neurology, among others", he added.
