An international conference will discuss the issues of the protection of alarms and anti-corruption issues

 The conference "Towards Openness, Responsibility and Better Governance: Awareness-raising, Fighting Corruption, Future Perspectives" will be held from 9 to 11 October with the participation of international experts in Riga in order to raise awareness about the issues of alertness, protection of alert persons and the challenges of corruption. .

The first day of the conference is dedicated to promoting alertness and alertness. The conference participants will focus on diverging approaches in reporting and reviewing alert bosses, discussing internal alert mechanisms, and discussing how to effectively protect alarms.

Participants of the conference will discuss how to create effective and safe alert channels, as well as discussing measures to ensure the protection of the alert. The discussions will support the work begun by drafting a Draft Law on the Protection of Alarm (approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on March 7, 2017) submitted to the Saeima. 

On the second and third day of the conference, the focus will be on the challenges of preventing and combating corruption in the Latvian, Baltic and wider international contexts, with particular focus on the problem of the reduction of political corruption. 

Experts from Latvia, as well as from the United States, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Brazil, Bulgaria, Ireland, Georgia, Germany, Lithuania and Estonia and international organizations - OECD, European Anti-Corruption the intergroup (GRECO) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Experts and panelists will represent the state, local government, non-governmental and private sectors. 

The conference is organized by the School of Public Administration within the framework of the ESF project "Improvement of Human Resources of Public Administration in the Field of Corruption Prevention and Shadow Economy" in cooperation with the State Chancellery, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau and the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia. Application for participation in the conference in accordance with the invitation sent by the organizers.
