Malta Ranked By Top News Agency As One Of The Best Places To Visit In 2018

The Associated Press chose Malta as one of the best places to visit during 2018, owing to Valletta’s turn as the European Capital of Culture.

Malta was listed among other holiday hotspots which are hosting sporting events or celebrating milestones and anniversaries, from Mexico City to Sapporo in Japan to New Orleans in the United States.

“Valletta is one of Europe’s 2018 capitals of culture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site with 7,000 years of history. Attractions include festivals, nightlife, ancient stone architecture, a rollicking Carnival in February and other festivals, plus World War II history, including scuba diving to wartime wrecks,” author Beth J. Harpaz said.

The other European capital of culture for 2018, Leeuwarden in the Netherlands’ province of Friesland, was also given a mention. “Cultural extravaganzas include an August 31 – September 1 event expanding an annual marathon across 23 villages with music, art, theater and unusual pop-up hotels.”
