Maltese Lawyer Based In London Recognised In Top 35 Under 35 List Of Rising Stars

Luke Micallef Trigona was named in eprivateclient’s 2019 list of top private client practitioners.

A 27-year-old Maltese lawyer, Luke Micallef Trigona, has been recognised in eprivateclient’s prestigious list of Top 35 Under 35 private client practitioners to watch out for.

Eprivateclient is a leading UK website and news service for private client practitioners, including lawyers, accountants and trustees.

The Top 35 Under 35 is designed to identify, recognise, introduce, promote and support the “rising stars” of the private client professions, according to eprivateclient.

Mr Micallef Trigona qualified as a solicitor in the UK back in 2017. Prior to joining Keystone Law in 2018, he worked in the offshore tax team at boutique Mayfair law firm, Berkeley Law (later acquired by Irwin Mitchell). At Keystone Law, Mr Micallef Trigona advises high net worth individuals on a wide range of areas such as trusts, wills, lasting powers of attorney, charities, family offices, asset protection, estate planning and trust structuring.

One professional who nominated him for the list remarked that he is “one of the most promising young private client lawyers [he has] had the privilege to work with for many years”.

Another nominator observed that Mr Micallef Trigona approaches his client base with an “enthusiasm for the industry,” adding that “he does not shy away from complex international clients and has a flare for structuring and tax”.

The process for receiving a mention on the Top 35 Under 35 list begins with an open call for nomination from the UK and the Crown Dependencies looking for young and upcoming stars within the private client advisory professions, be they lawyers, accountants, trustees or any other professional intermediary.

Eprivateclient said that 2019 saw close to 500 nominations for professionals from over 60 firms across the UK.

Following the closure of the nomination period, in mid-August, the nominations were collected and analysed, followed by a comprehensive judging process.

Each nominee was judged on the strength of their nominations, such as the seniority of the nominator, the individual’s milestones over the past 12 months and the number of nominations a contender has received.

Mr Micallef Trigona grew up in St Julian’s, attending St Edward’s College up until the completion of his secondary education. He then moved on to reading for his A-levels at St Martin’s College, which led him to sit for a Bachelor of Law in Bristol. This was followed by further study at the University of Law where he sat for the Legal Practice Course and a Master of Laws, specialising in international banking and capital markets, international commercial law and private clients.

Mr Micallef Trigona said, “Naturally, I am delighted to be recognised by eprivateclient to receive this award. Whilst I am of course very pleased and grateful on a personal level, I think this is a reflection on the strength and capability of the private client team here at Keystone Law.”
